Servest Security and Technology, a business unit of Servest, is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Safety Officer to join the Operations Department on a contract basis in Secunda, Mpumalanga. The role requires a dedicated professional with a passion for the security industry and strong expertise in health and safety practices, particularly within the mining sector. The Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety standards, conducting audits, managing incident investigations, and supporting operational teams to maintain a safe working environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct weekly checks and updates on all site safety files
• Audit safety files for Servest subcontractors monthly
• Attend safety meetings
• Upload all meeting minutes and investigations to the SHEQ X platform
• Visit posts regularly and conduct PTO on Servest members to ensure compliance with client safety standards
• Attend monthly SHE meetings with Servest SHE representatives and keep minutes on file for audit purposes
• Respond to safety incidents, investigate them, and submit preliminary reports until the investigation is finalized
• Work closely with the Contract Manager and the Accounts Operations Executive – Mining

Qualifications

• Passed Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent
• Health and Safety Qualification or relevant (mandatory)
• Samtrac or NOSA certificates
• Three to five years of experience as a Safety Officer in the mining industry
• Experience and knowledge of the MHSA, OHS Act, audits, and incident investigation
• PSIRA Grade A certificate
• No criminal record or pending cases
• Medically fit
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transport
• Residence in Secunda or surrounding areas
